A New Year, A New Craft

Updated: Jan 31, 2019

The new year is a great time for a fresh start, so why not take the opportunity to learn a new craft! It is widely reported that crafting supports positive mental health with benefits that include relaxation, relief from stress and a sense of accomplishment. It's a great way to take time out of our busy lives!

Here at the Crafty Fox we have a wide range of craft classes running throughout the week. We offer half day and full day workshops as well as 6 week long courses, so you can choose the duration that suits you.

Workshops

Our half day workshops are generally for 3 - 4 hours and include embroidery, calligraphy, introduction to sewing and needle felting.

Workshops are a great way to give yourself a taste of a new craft. If you enjoy it then you can always go further, whether it be a follow on course or simply investing in the equipment to do it at home. Classes have a maximum of 6-10 people depending on the class which makes it easy for the tutor to help people one-on-one. Refreshments are also provided.

Our recent workshop was a 3 hour learn to sew class aimed at absolute beginners. During the class the tutor showed everyone how to use a sewing machine. Each attendee then made there own bag with the skills they learned. We were super impressed with the end product!

Equipment such as sewing machines are available for each person. Materials are usually included in the price of the workshops, but some classes require you to purchase these separately. All relevant information is available on the website.

Courses

The courses generally run for 6 weeks or less, and take place once a week for 1 - 2 hours. These include learning to sew, crochet, quilting and patchwork. Although most equipment is provided, some materials will need to be purchased e.g. the quilting course doesn't include fabric. This will allow each person to make the quilt to the size they wish as we have found that some students want to make a cushion or wall hanging and others want to make a king size quilt! All students will be given 10% off fabrics sold in store. Refreshments are also provided during the course.

One-on-One

If attending a group class is not your thing then why not avail of our one-on-one classes! Sewing classes are available mid day Thursday through Saturday. These one-on-one sessions can be booked hourly and can be tailor made to your requirement. Machines are available to use, but you can bring along your own machine if you would prefer to learn on it. We offer private lessons for knitting and crochet too!

Finally, if you have a group that would like a particular workshop then get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Classes are run by the staff of The Crafty Fox, as well as independent tutors. All class information can we found on our website or in store.

We hope 2019 will be a creative and fun year for everyone!

Stay creative,

The Crafty Fox Team
