Our Quilting Classes
Quilting has been around for a very long time, and although the origins of quilting remain unknown, historians do know that quilting, piecing, and applique were used for clothing and furnishings in diverse parts of the world in early times. The earliest known quilted garment is on the carved ivory figure of a Pharaoh of the Egyptian First Dynasty about 3400 B.C It's amazing that it has stood the test of time and is still very popular today, we can almost guarantee everyone knows at least one person who quilts!
When people think of quilting, straight away they imagine the old floral comforter on their granny's bed (or at least I did). Now there are so many new modern designs for quilting, that it has turned into an art form!
Our quilting classes have been a huge success this year, more and more people are looking to learn the techniques of this centuries old craft.
Our classes are taught by the extremely talented Elna, who teaches both our ribbon embroidery and quilting classes. Elna is an avid quilter and has made many beautiful quilts to the highest of standards, so who better to teach all our budding quilters!
Each quilting class uses a different pattern, for example, our up and coming class will use the log cabin design. The colour scheme of the quilt is completely your choice, and there are plenty of fabrics to choose from in store! There are many ways of putting the quilting blocks together, each giving the quilt a completely unique and different look.
All class attendees get 10% off in store for the full duration of the course. The quilt classes run on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Check out some of the quilts below that were made in our previous classes!
If you would like to try your hand at quilting check out our Workshop page for all our future quilting classes!
Stay Creative!
